Are you 'language-friendly'?

The majority of the countries of the world have received, with greater or lesser intensity, waves of people from other backgrounds who ventured to populate other sites, either by invasion, colonization, or legal immigration. With them they brought their languages, and often have them tax and reduced the original languages of each region. The result is that today there are many cosmopolitan countries where a predominant language coexists with several other languages that are spoken to a lesser extent. Just look at any city phone book and surnames originating in a vast diversity of countries can be, but that surely all those people only speak the local language, and not that of their ancestors.
Now, in this new millennium, people are already accustomed to globalization, exposure to other languages either by live together with people from other places in the neighborhood, or through television and international bands music.
But, in practice, how people feel when it is in its country of origin and they hear others speaking in a language they don't understand? Obviously depends on the place, culture, and perhaps of the day that comes with each, but reactions can pass of "Oh, how interesting!" to "How would they dare to speak another language different from ours if they are in my country?".
Here is where people choose different paths. On the one hand, curious people who need constant stimuli and intends to learn other languages and other cultures; on the other hand those who are comfortable in their lifestyle and don't feel the need or interest to delve into the world of languages. Both sides are valid, some want to be multi-lingual superstars, others conform to understand what their foreign neighbors speak, others simply have the mind busy in other things as to venture into another language.
In one way or another, languages are not only grammatical rules and different pronunciations, are gateways to the diversity and cultural richness, to new ways of seeing the world and life, so that the different languages should be seen as bridges instead of walls. This is something that we love at Trusted Translations , and we strive to achieve that there is increasingly less barriers between a culture and another.
